Admission requirements for the degree programme
Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is subject to the possession of the following requirements:
CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS
1. One of the following degrees:
- Degree under DM 270/2004
- Degree under DM 509/1999
- Three-year university diploma from the previous degree system
- Four- or five-year degree from the previous system
- other suitable qualification obtained abroad.
2. At least the following:
- a total of 36 CFU in the basic subject areas of class L-8, Computer Engineering and class L-9, Industrial Engineering under DM 16-3-2007

- 20 CFU in subject areas pertaining to the specific learning activities in the Biomedical Engineering field, as laid down in the degree programme system governing the three-year degree in Biomedical Engineering, under DM270/2004, of the University of Bologna:

For degrees obtained in Italy under previous degree programme systems or suitable qualifications obtained aboard, the studies completed within such programmes will be assigned to the subject areas, assessed in terms of credits and recognised by the Degree Programme Board in order to check the compliance with the curricular requirements, following the criteria laid down in Art. 8 below.
TEST TO VERIFY PERSONAL ACADEMIC PREPARATION
Admission to the 2nd cycle degree programme is subject to the possession of the described curricular requirements and to the assessment of personal competencies and skills, based on the assessment of the candidates' curriculum.
Personal competencies and skills will be automatically accepted for candidates complying with at least one of the following criteria:
i) First cycle degree, or University Diploma under the previous degree system, with at least 30 CFU in subject areas ING-INF/06 and ING-IND/34, whatever the final grade;
ii) Minimum degree/diploma grade of 90/110 or equivalent;
iii) Weighted average of the credits and grades obtained in the exams in the subject area of biomedical engineering required for the recognition of curricular requirements, of at least 25/30.
A special Admissions session may be held for international students, with a Board appointed to assess the candidates' personal competencies and skills; this session will be compatible with the schedule established in the call for applications for study grants (which indicatively expires in May).
International students who pass the above-mentioned assessment are exempted from the following assessment of their personal competencies and skills required for other students.
