Short Bio

Full professor at the University of Bologna since 2016, conducts his research in the field of biomedical engineering. His research interests are directed, in particular, at Digital Health, with a focus on technologies for home rehabilitation and in support of healthy and active aging, on the assessment of movement, balance and the risk of falling with wearable sensors, and on digital biomarkers. At the University of Bologna he led the Interdepartmental Center for Industrial Research on Health Sciences & Technologies (CIRI-SDV) and is a member of the research advisory board (GTA) on Cluster 1, Mission Cancer, and Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) of Horizon Europe. Since 2020 he has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Alisei National Technology Cluster. He is chair for Italy of the Italy-United States bilateral working group on "Innovative Technologies for Healthy Aging" and was the PI of 3 European projects (SENSACTION-AAL, FARSEEING, CuPiD) on topics about ICT for Ageing and Wellbeing and Personal Health System for remote management of disease, treatment and rehabilitation.
