Admission requirements
Admission to the 1st cycle degree programme is subject to the possession of a five-year secondary school diploma or equivalent suitable qualification obtained abroad, or a four-year secondary school diploma and diploma for the relative supplementary year, or, where no longer active, admitted students will be assigned additional learning requirements.
Knowledge required
Students shall also possess the following skills and knowledge, as laid down in the Degree Programme teaching regulations.
- Sound knowledge of written and spoken Italian;
- Basic knowledge of the English language;
- Logical and mathematical skills.
Assessment of basic knowledge
This knowledge is assessed through an exam which will be delivered according to what described in the degree programme website (the exam may be held on more than one date).
Exemption of assessment of basic knowledge
The Degree Programme Board assesses the possibility of exempting students from the assessment of basic knowledge in the following cases:
- withdrawal from studies,
- loss of student status,
- application to opt out of previous degree programme systems,
- possession of an academic qualification obtained from or learning activities carried out in foreign universities,
– transfer from another degree programme of the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna,
- transfer from another university.
This assessment is based on the following criteria:
- coherence of the candidate's curriculum and the knowledge required for admission to the degree programme. In the event of accepting the transfer application beyond the usual terms, students who have not been exempted from sitting the entrance exam will be directly assigned additional learning requirements.
Additional Learning Requirements
Candidates who do not pass the entrance exam will be assigned additional learning requirements (OFA), and will be required to attend supplementary courses in mathematics (the dates of which will be published on the degree programme website) or other learning activities defined by the Degree Programme Board.
The Additional Learning Requirements are deemed to have been fulfilled when students pass the exam in Mathematical Analysis.
Students not completing the requirements by the date set by the Academic Bodies and published on the University portal will be required to re-enrol in the first year of the programme as repeating students.
