I have been a Full Professor of Demography at the University of Bologna since 2005. My research focuses on both contemporary and historical demography, with particular interest in long-term population dynamics, family formation and marriage, the demographic analysis of historical populations, aging, and health in later life.
I am actively involved in national (PRIN, PNRR) projects on health and frailty in old age, and on the links between climate change and demographic behaviors. At the international level, I participate in projects on child abuse and violence, and in historical demography initiatives focused on the classification and analysis of causes of death. I collaborate with various research groups and teach demography and social statistics in both undergraduate and graduate programs.
