Full Professor of Statistics at the University of Bologna since 2002, her research focuses on multivariate statistics, with particular attention to estimation methods and the assessment of goodness of fit in Item Response Theory models. Her work has also explored the application of these models to the analysis of educational systems, from the measurement of competencies to the management of complex data.
She has coordinated and participated in numerous scientific collaborations with the Italian National Institute for the Evaluation of the Education and Training System (INVALSI). Since 2010, she has coordinated initiatives devoted to the teaching of Statistics in secondary schools. In 2019, she also launched and contributed to interdisciplinary educational initiatives focusing on data interpretation and communication within the field of Data Literacy.
In 2023, she joined the University Quality Assurance Committee, Teaching and Learning Section.
In 2024, she was appointed Resident Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Bologna Institute, Class of Moral Sciences.
She is currently a member of the INVALSI Scientific Board.
