Full Professor of Statistics at the University of Bologna since 2002, she conducts research in multivariate statistics, with a particular focus on estimation methods and goodness-of-fit assessment for Item Response Theory models. Her work has also explored the use of these models in the analysis of education systems, ranging from competency measurement to the management of complex data.
She has coordinated and participated in numerous scientific collaborations with the Italian National Institute for the Evaluation of the Education and Training System (INVALSI). Beginning in 2010, she has coordinated initiatives aimed at promoting the teaching of statistics in secondary schools. In 2019, she also began developing and contributing to interdisciplinary educational initiatives on data interpretation and communication within the field of data literacy.
She joined the University of Bologna Quality Assurance Board, Teaching and Learning Section, in 2023. In 2024, she was appointed Resident Corresponding Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of the Bologna Institute, Class of Moral Sciences, and became a member of the INVALSI Scientific Council.
