99542 - LABORATORIO DI TERMOTECNICA M

Academic Year 2023/2024

  • Moduli: Gian Luca Morini (Modulo 1) Matteo Dongellini (Modulo 2)
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures (Modulo 1) Traditional lectures (Modulo 2)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Energy Engineering (cod. 0935)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student has the basic knowledge for carrying out thermal measurements and for the use of dynamic simulation software of the "building-plant" system. In particular, the student is able to: - Obtain temperature measurements, heat flow, velocity, heat power, overall heat transfer coefficients; - Calculate the uncertainty coupled to the thermal measurements; - Use commercial dynamic software for modeling "building-plant" systems.

Course contents

Recall of thermal measurements. Theory of error and calculation of the uncertainty associated with a measurement procedure.

The practical temperature scale. Temperature measurement techniques. Thermocouples, thermoresistance meters, NTC. The calibration of the temperature sensors.

Flow measurements in ducts. Methods for measuring volumetric flow and mass flow.

Measurements of thermal energy: heat meters.

Use of ARDUINO for temperature measurements. Arduino programming.

Readings/Bibliography

Teaching methods

Each topic is explained both teoretically and experimentally. A series of specific laboratory experiences are scheduled.

Assessment methods

A specific problem will be assigned to each student.

The exam is based on an oral test and the discussion of the solutions proposed for the specific problem assigned to the candidate.

Teaching tools

Lessons are based on didactical material available on IOL.

Slides (powerpoint) and blackboard are used. The didactical laboratory of Fisica Tecnica at Lazzaretto will be used during the course.
