Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to analyse the different
methodological approaches of social and political research.
Course contents
The course is divided in two modules.
The first one is dedicated
to the logic of political and social research and in
particular to the logic of comparative method:
1) philosophy, theory and empiric sciences; 2) concepts formation and use; 3) hypothesis formation and hypothesis control 4) the comparative method 5) the logical consistency of the public discourse.
The second module, held by
Laura Sartori, is dedicated to qualitative and quantitative techniques that are
commonly used in social research and to
univariate and bivariate analysis.
