Programme aims

The 2nd cycledegree programme in Statistics, Economics and Business combines statisticalmethodology with economic and business studies, with more in-depth study ofquantitative marketing and methods of economic analysis. The programme is dividedinto three separate curricula.
The programme firstly provides for theconsolidation of a solid methodological basis, aimed at the advanced use ofquantitative methods, during the first year. Core subjects in the areas ofapplied mathematics, statistics and applied statistics are therefore present inthe first year in all three curricula to provide the methodological basis forthe study of economic and business phenomena. Knowledge is furthered in thesecond year, with lectures specific to the objectives of the three distinctcurricula, on advanced methodology and applied statistics, for the acquisitionof the practical skills necessary for carrying out surveys, analysing data fromdifferent types of data sources and analyses aimed at different objectives inthe economic-business context. Supplementary course units complete thestudent's preparation.
In detail, the curriculum provides the statistical and methodological toolsneeded for decision-making in the field of marketing processes and analysis, with emphasis on the business world. Specific reference is made to thosesectors with broad and dynamic databases concerning the consumption patterns oftheir own customers.
A second curriculum places the accent on statistical analysis of economicphenomena and processes, as well as the design and coordination of economicanalyses. It prepares graduates for high-ranking jobs in the fields ofaggregated, local, time-related and individual economic and quantitativeanalyses, the evaluation of economic and business policies, the analysis ofcompetitive performance and productivity in countries and businesses, inequality and poverty.
The third curriculum provides the methodological knowledge and IT tools used inthe field of Data Science and Business Statistics to obtain summary informationuseful for business decision makers. It prepares students to hold high-levelroles in public and private companies and consultancy firms, providing advancedtraining to meet the information needs of companies through the analysis ofdifferent types of data.
The free credits allow greater customisation of the programme, recognising theresults achieved by the students, also with a view to entering the world ofwork.
The programme is structured according to the latest teaching practices, combining periods of theoretical study with practical applications to thebusiness and economic world, with a particular emphasis on the use of specificsoftware. The learning process may be completed by a curricular internship thatenables the knowledge acquired to be put into practice. -
