Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire
The student is expected to learn some of the new media juridical issues. In particular, the student is expected to learn: - the rise of cyber law - the management of the Internet - the protection of democracy and freedom inside the net - the EU regulation on the audiovisual sector - the liberalisation of the ICT markets.

Personal communication, public communication and new media.
The Information Society.
Part I
The EU Digital Communications Law.
European Commission and NRAs (National Regulatory Authorities).
Market competition and the regulatory framework. Networks and network based services. The access to the net.
Case Law.
Part II
Audio-Visual Media Services (AVMS) and new media
Part III
The Internet. Law and the internet governance: main issues and conflicts.
Regulating the Internet. Net neutrality. End-to-end principle.
Peer to peer communications.
The Internet players: Internet Service Providers (ISPs) / End-users.
Internet Access Providers. Host Providers. Content Providers.
Part IV
The provision of digital contents and the ISPs liabilities.
Case Law (e.g.: copyright infringements).

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento
Three exams will be scheduled yearly. The aim of any exam is to ascertain the knowledge and abilities of students to deal with the issues of the course.
Students who will attend at least 3/4 of the lectures, will submit and discuss a paper on a specific topic previously agreed with the Professor.
To attend the exam, each student must be enrolled on AlmaEsami within the deadline term.

Students who need compensatory measures and/or dispensative tools due to disability or Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) should communicate it to the Professor as soon as possible.
