Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

At the end of the class, student has knowledge of the methodologies to provide a survey of the historic fabric and structure, including its constituent materials and the decay phenomena that affect it. In particular, at the end of the course he/she is able to plan and carry out an accurate measured and photographic record of an historic building, by recording its main elements as well as the relationship with its surroundings and the landscape.

Contenuti

The course provides the tools for the in-depth analysis of historical buildings in their urban context through architectural survey techniques and methodologies.

During the course the theoretical and practical information will be provided for the execution of traditional and digital surveys, using procedures such as in particular Terrestrial Laser Scanner and Digital Photogrammetry.

At the end of the course the student is able to organise a survey campaign according to the illustrated methodologies, to correctly acquire the data and process them for the production of three-dimensional models and two-dimensional CAD works.

Testi/Bibliografia

During the course, specific readings will be provided for each topic addressed. The material made available consists of manuals for architectural, urban and archaeological surveying and scientific articles focusing on the most recent experiences in the use of digital surveying methodologies applied to historical architecture and archaeological remains.

Recommended readings during the course are available in the university libraries or online. All material provided during the course will also be deposited on the Virtuale platform, on the course-specific page.

Note: During the lessons, texts for more specific topics (articles, reviews etc.) available online will be indicated.

Metodi didattici

The course involves an alternation of theoretical and practical lessons. During the lectures, specific knowledge of the survey methodologies investigated is provided and real cases of application of these methodologies are studied and discussed.

The practical lessons are carried out both in the classroom and, compatibly with the students' academic commitments, outside, directly in the field, in the form of workshops. The exercises carried out in the classroom are preparatory in order to get in touch with the topics covered and the specific tools, until sufficient familiarity with the methodologies that will subsequently be applied during the workshops is achieved. The workshops that will be organised will take place during class time and will focus on the monuments and architecture of the historic centre of Ravenna.

In view of the type of activity and teaching methods adopted, the attendance of this training activity requires the prior participation of all students in Modules 1 and 2 of training on safety in the workplace, [https://elearning-sicurezza.unibo.it/] in e-learning mode.

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento

Intermediate learning tests

During the course, theoretical lectures will be accompanied by practical exercises, both individual and group, to allow the professor to assess the consistency of learning.

Examination modalities

For the final examination, the students, divided into groups of three, will develop an architectural theme assigned by the lecturer, for which they will have to acquire metric data during the workshops and produce three- and two-dimensional work. Further information on the content of the final examination and examples will be provided during the course.

The examination consists of the public presentation and discussion of the drawings of this case study; during the presentation, the oral test of the course will be held, consisting of questions on the theoretical contents related to the drawings presented (1 question per table).

The mid-term tests, the papers produced for the final examination and the oral presentation will contribute to the final grade in the percentages of 30%, 40%, 30% respectively.

Strumenti a supporto della didattica

The Virtuale platform will provide students with materials related to the topics covered in the lectures and will allow them to upload material and take intermediate tests. Through the platform, as well as through e-mail, it will be possible for students to ask questions and resolve doubts related to the lectures, as well as to keep up-to-date on practical information related to the course.
