Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

Workshops are designed to provide students with transversal skills that can prove useful in their future careers. The objective of the workshop is to help students to practice skills through application of information technology, data analysis, decision-making techniques (e.g. simulation) in complex organizations.

Contenuti

This workshop will simulate a constitution writing experience.

Testi/Bibliografia

There is one key text: Giovanni Sartori, Comparative Constitutional Engineering. This book will be used in addition to excerpts from actual constitutions. A fuller reading list will be posted soon.

Metodi didattici

We will meet as a group in two long sessions. The first session will explore the structure of a constitution with group discussion of readings and small group exercises. Students will then be given a description of a hypothetical country and be asked to draft an outline constitution. We will meet again as a group to discuss the drafts and debate their merits. Assessment will be based on class participation and the final draft document.

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento
