Raising awareness

Creation of the “Red Bench against domestic violence” at the Rectory of the Alma Mater

The Alma Mater CUG, in agreement with the Rector and the Vice Rector for Human Resources, has overseen the creation of a red bench situated in the Cortile del Pozzo of Palazzo Poggi at the Rectorate in Via Zamboni, 33. The idea for the red bench came from the proposal submitted to the Committee by a TA colleague and benefited from the involvement of Professor Giovanna Cosenza of the Department of Philosophy and Communication as well as the work carried out free of charge by the artists Benedetta Landolo. 

The CUG also organised the ceremony to inaugurate the Red Bench at the Rectorate.

Implementation of actions aimed at promoting the effective adoption of a language that respects but does not negate gender differences.

Participation in the Technical-Scientific Committee tasked with preparing guidelines on the University's gender language, established under the supervision of the Vice-Rector for Human Resources.
During 2019, the Committee drafted guidelines with a view to raising awareness in the University on the daily use of a language that takes into account gender differences in institutional documents and the forms produced by the General Administration Areas, as well as in University communications, which will be distributed at the beginning of 2020.

Participation in national teams, networking initiatives and the exchange of good practices on CUG matters

  • Exchange of good practices with the CUGs of the: City of Bologna, Council of Bologna, Province of Forlì and Cesena, AUSLs of Bologna and Romagna, CUG of the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute, CUG of the Sant’Orsola University Public Hospital, CUG of ER.GO - Bologna.
  • Exchange of good practices with the Superintendent of Inclusão, Políticas Afirmativas e Diversidade (SIPAD), Universidade Federal do Paraná.
  • Participation as a partner in formulating the Project “Giving back time to families” presented in its capacity as Coordinator for the Province of Forlì-Cesena and funded following the competitive selection procedure (in which it was ranked in third place) issued by the Emilia-Romagna Region which called for the submission of projects aimed at supporting an equal presence of women in the workforce, encouraging access to work and careers and promoting welfare projects aimed at work-life balance and improving quality of life.
  • Continued collaboration with the University's Alma Gender IRT and the non-profit Women's Refuge in Bologna. Activation of new channels for discussion and synergy with the CUGs of other universities and public bodies as well as with the Emilia Romagna Regional Council Commission for Equality and Human Rights with a view to promoting initiatives related to the functions pertinent to the Committee.
  • Continued participation in the Gender equality report team established by the Group of Delegates on gender-related topics of the CRUI which, in 2019, published the “Guidelines for Gender Equality in Italian Universities”, CRUI Foundation 2019.

 

Measures to promote occupational well-being and maintenance of the work-life balance

Promotion and publication of informative material aimed at raising awareness among Unibo personnel of the existing services.

The brochure indicates the main figures, services and offices at the University, along with the relative contact details, that primarily provide services to personnel.

Presentations aimed at personnel to awareness of the available services and the persons and structures mandated principally to promote equal opportunities, occupational well-being and work-life balance.

  • Participation in the training session for newly appointed staff organised by APOS in 2019 which outlines the functions of the CUG and provides a brochure prepared by the Committee on “The network of services for people working at the University of Bologna”.

  • Presentation of the version updated in 2019 of the brochure “The network of services for people working at the University of Bologna” at the training seminar organised by the CUG "Mobbing: Resources to prevent it and services offered by the University” held on 7 November 2019 at the School of Arts, Humanities, and Cultural Heritage in Via Zamboni 38, Bologna and also remotely via video conference at the Romagna and Ozzano dell’Emilia sites and the Distal department.

Collaboration on the surveys conducted by the University of its personnel

Participation in the Working group tasked with analysing matters associated with the risk of work-related stress, established under the supervision of the Vice-Rector for Human Resources, which in December 2019 officially commenced a survey of its personnel by sending out a questionnaire to teachers and inviting TA staff members picked at random to participate in focus groups.

Annual award for sociocultural initiatives aimed at promoting occupational well-being

The CUG promoted the Notice issued by APOS directed at the PTA, CEL and fixed term foreign language assistants of the University for the presentation of project proposals aimed at promoting occupational well-being (Ed. 2018 - published by APOS on 15/01/2019).

No. candidate projects: 19 (of which 53% proposed by individuals; 47% by groups)

Topics addressed: occupational well-being (37%); physical exercise and a healthy diet (27%); cooperation/belonging/community/culture (21%), combating discrimination (5%); work-life balance (5%); sustainable mobility (5%).

Total personnel involved (individually or as part of a group): 33 (82% women)

Areas of origin of the personnel: 74% - General Administration (ABIS; ACRR; ARTEC; SSRD; CESIA; AUTC; AFORM), 26% - departments (EDU, MAT, DISTAL, SPS, DSE).

Contract category of the personnel involved (composition of proposing groups): EP (9%), D (39%), C (52%).

No. voters in the online voting phase of the projects: 763 TA, CEL and language assistant staff members who cast 1550 votes overall (with each voter able to able to express up to a maximum of 3 preferences).

Creation of the video “Occupational well-being: 7 exercised to do in the office”

The project proposed by a University TA colleague "MiMuovo alla scrivania…e Respiro!” (I move at my desk...and I breathe!) was the winner of the Notice “Propose and vote for a good idea for the work environment in Unibo” (APOS, Protocol 4792 of 15/01/2019). The CUG created a video tutorial of exercises aimed at promoting the health and well-being of University personnel that carry out mainly sedentary and computer-based activities. The video shows the correct posture to be adopted and exercises to keep the osteoarticular and muscular system healthy and to encourage a state of relaxation.

Promotion of dialogue and the exchange of ideas related to the topic of work-life balance

The CUG has encouraged dialogue and the exchange of ideas with the University figures and structures that are working towards equal opportunities, occupational well-being and work-life balance.
