Feedback from questionnaire put to internal Unibo personnel:

  • Response rate: 41% (of which: 8.4% cat. B, 53.4% cat. C, 32.7% cat. D, 4.4% cat EP, 1.1% not indicated).
  • Results: the seminars were deemed consistent with the objectives (92.4%), adopted an adequate methodological approach (91.10%), were clear (92.4%), promoted interaction between teachers and participants (90.57%), using appropriate channels (89.53%), the instructions for participating were clear (over 91%), with adequate tutor support for using the online platform (93.19%), usefulness of the content covered during the COVID period (high 82.46%).

Implementation of actions aimed at promoting the effective adoption of a language that respects but does not negate gender differences

Participation in the "Technical-Scientific Committee tasked with preparing guidelines on the University's gender language", promoted by the Vice-Rector for Human Resources.
In 2020, the Committee published the "Gender Visibility Guidelines for the University of Bologna's Communications [.pdf 525 KB]".
The intention is to promote an awareness among the university community to ensure the everyday use of a language attentive to gender differences in institutional documents and in the forms produced by the General Administration Divisions.

Participation in national working groups, networking initiatives and the exchange of best practices on CUG matters

  • Networking with the National Forum of CUGs and the Conference of Equality Bodies of Italian Universities.
  • Exchange of good practices with the CUGs of the: Metropolitan City of Bologna, Bologna City Council, Province of Forlì and Cesena, Bologna AUSL (local health authority), Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute (IOR), Sant'Orsola Public Hospital, Cervia Town Council, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, University of Bergamo.
  • Participation in (as a partner) the project "Giving back time to families: promotion of gender equality and concrete measures aimed at allowing time for parenting" funded through a call of the Emilia Romagna Region, with the Province of Forlì-Cesena as the lead body. During 2020, the CUG, acting through its Chairperson, coordinated the survey of existing best practices and conciliation services, coordinated the four round tables (Public Bodies, Trade and Commerce, Cooperation and Non Profit, Small and Medium Enterprises) aimed at proposing new best practices, and coordinated the Technical-Scientific Committee that defined the criteria for selecting candidates to fund.
  • Continued collaboration with the University's Alma Gender IRT and the non-profit Women's Refuge in Bologna. Activation of new channels for discussion and synergy with the CUGs of other universities and public bodies with a view to promoting initiatives related to the functions pertinent to the Committee.
  • Continued participation in the Gender Equality Report team established by the CRUI's Group of Delegates on gender-related topics, which in 2020 recorded a video training course on preparing Gender Equality Reports in Italian Universities. The course offers a step-by-step guide to universities in preparing their own Gender Equality Report as well as in integrating said document with all the University's strategic documents.

Measures to promote employee well-being and maintenance of work-life balance

Promotion of informative material aimed at raising awareness among Unibo personnel of the existing services

  • Presentations aimed at personnel to raise awareness of the available services and the persons and structures tasked principally with promoting equal opportunities, occupational wellbeing and work-life balance, including through presentation of the brochure entitled "The network of services for people working at the University of Bologna".
  • Participation in the training session for newly appointed staff organised by APOS in 2020, with a presentation of the functions of the CUG and of a brochure prepared by the Committee on "The network of services for people working at the University of Bologna".

Collaboration on the surveys conducted by the University of its personnel

Participation in the Working Group tasked with analysing matters associated with the risk of work-related stress in relation to the University's working environment, established under the supervision of the Vice-Rector for Human Resources. Collaboration in organising the focus groups aimed at homogeneous groups of the University's professional staff, processing the data collected from the questionnaire given to teachers and researchers, and formulating the questionnaire given to the University's professional staff.

Promotion of dialogue and the exchange of ideas related to the topic of work-life balance

The CUG has encouraged dialogue and the exchange of ideas with the University figures and structures that are working towards equal opportunities, occupational well-being and work-life balance.
