Learning outcomes
A the end of the course, the student: knows the neuromuscular bases of exercise; knows the acute metabolic, cardiovascular and respiratory responses to exercise and their neuroendocrine control; knows the morphological, neuromuscular, cardiovascular, respiratory and endocrine adaptations to training and detraining (chronic responses); is able to quantitatively assess these responses and interpret them against normative data; knows the influence of age, gender, environment and health status on the exercise responses; is able to apply this knowledge to exercise testing and prescription.
