Learning outcomes

M-PSI/05 

 At the end of the laboratory, students: - will know how to apply the main theoretical models of community psychology; - will be able to understand the dynamics of groups in social and community contexts.

M-PSI/08

At the end of the classes, students will be able to carry out a clinical assessment and will know how to apply adequate methodology according to the particular clinical case.

Course contents

The course is held during the first semester (December 2023-January 2024) for the M-PSI/05 Module (Module 1: Community Psychology - Prof.ssa Silvia Moscatelli) and during the second semester (March-May 2024) for the M-PSI/08 Module (Clinical Psychology – Module 2: Prof.ssa Jenny Guidi).

M-PSI/05

Students will learn how to apply the methods of social psychology with respect to the issues of discrimination and social inclusion of migrants.

The course includes the following activities:

Analysis of the possible psychological outcomes of the migration experience. Examination of possible strategies for prejudice reduction and promotion of social integration, with a focus on the integration of migrant women.

2. Analysis of interventions in various contexts (school, organization, community). Their aims, methods, applicability, and effectiveness will be analyzed. Students will learn how to plan an intervention aimed at improving the integration of migrants within specific contexts.

Identification of signs, symptoms and syndromes in clinical psychology. Differential diagnosis. Formulation of diagnostic hypotheses and treatment planning

Assessment methods

M-PSI/05

To pass the exam, students are requested to:

  • attend classes and participate in discussions.
  • participate actively in a group presentation concerning the critical analysis of an intervention and the planning of a new intervention.

 

M-PSI/08

Active participation to the laboratory course is essential in order to get admitted to the final examination. The final evaluation will consist in a written exam concerning topics discussed during classes. This final examination will take place during the last class of the laboratory course.
