Course contents

The year 2023 opened with the inauguration of an important exhibition at the Civic Museums of San Domenico in Forlì, entitled The Art of Fashion. Painted, portrayed and sculpted fashion stands at the centre of power and its communication; at the centre of society and its symbolic signs. It oscillates between innovation and imitation, orientation towards the new and immediate communicability. In renewing itself it must communicate, in doing so it consumes itself, and art is the mirror and inspiration, the expression and dissemination of models; often the creation itself.

The exhibition offered a unique and valuable opportunity to reflect on the seminar topics: after a few introductory lectures, the students will be divided into groups to which they will be assigned a work from among those on display in the exhibition. Every week, each group will have to work on the reading of the work - reading the image, bibliographical research, analysis and comprehension of the exhibition catalogue sheet provided by the lecturer relating to the chosen work - and at the end present the results in the classroom with a Powerpoint, discussing them with colleagues. It goes without saying that attendance is essential for suitability.
