95575 - LINGUAGGI E PRATICHE DELLA COMUNICAZIONE AUDIOVISIVA

Academic Year 2023/2024

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Media, Public and Corporate Communication (cod. 5703)

Course contents

For A.A. 2023/2024, the course content will focus on digital platforms.

Attendance is strongly recommended.

The theoretical part will have very practical implications.

Part One: How do images work?

In a provocative way, we will start from the analysis of silent cinema and highlight some elements that still characterise visual social media such as Instagram, Twitch and TikTok.

The study of the composition of the image (photo and/or video) and how an audiovisual content can generate meaning will initiate the project works that the participants will have to realise (in small groups), respecting the indications given to create a digital editorial plan.

Part Two: Making something happen through audio-visual content

The central part will focus on designing the visual experience in the new context created by converging technologies (e.g. HBBTV) and social practices.

It will focus on the concepts of flow, circulation and transmediality.

Part three: lab

The course will close with visual storytelling tips, indicating platforms (also AI-based) for the concrete realisation of content that must not only be 'beautiful' but above all must stimulate user engagement.

We recommend downloading the CapCut app to realise content that respects the canons of digital media. Other editing apps/sites and AI will be discussed and proposed in class.
