Learning outcomes


Course contents

The Seminar 3 for the AA 2023-24 will be dedicated to “Agriculture and research in international organizations” and held by Dr Piero Venturi, EU functionary with 20 years of experiences in R&I policies at the European Commission. The seminar will take place exclusively in presence in 2024 on the following dates, times and classrooms at the Distal in Viale Fanin (BO):

  • Monday 11th of March from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – classroom 12
  • Tuesday 12th of March from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. . – classroom 12
  • Wednesday 13th of March from 9 to 11.30 a.m. – Lecture Hall (Aula Magna)

The program at a glance:

Day 1 (4 h): Course presentation. Summary of EU agricultural research policies (Green Deal, Horizon Europe, etc.), coordination between EU and Member States. Platforms of possible interest to students (Cordis, International Bioeconomy Forum, Erasmus+, Marie Curie, FNSSA, JRC, etc.).

Day 2 (4 h): Follow-up of the previous lesson with application examples. Discussion with students about opportunities and webex/zoom link with research officials of international organizations.

Day 3 (2.5 h): UN and multilateral agriculture programmes (G7, G20, CIAGR, soil mission, etc.). African Union (Africa Academy for Science, Science for Africa Foundation), CEPAL. As a graduate in agriculture can enter an international organization (EPSO, spontaneous questions, experts, etc.).

Based on documented active participation through questions and comments by students

 


Teaching tools

Personal computer and video projector. The teaching material presented is made available to the students in Virtuale. Access to material is granted only to students enrolled in the seminar.
