Learning outcomes

By attending the course, the student is able to recognize both the main elements related to the satisfaction of energy consumption (energy demand systems), and the main types of energy transformation-production systems (energy supply systems). Furthermore, the student is enabled to evaluate the most significant effects of energy systems, also through the use of the most common environmental and energy indicators.

Course contents

In the introduction of the course the fundamental definitions for the analysis of environmental and energy systems are explained.
Subsequently, the energy supply systems are described in order to know and be able to describe the schemes and environmental impacts of the main types of energy plants or infrastructures.
In the next part of the course the energy demand and consumption systems are described, with reference to the production, civil and transport sectors.
At the end of the course the student is able to understand both the main elements of analysis and control of the environmental impact determined by energy systems-infrastructures and the problem of satisfying energy needs. Furthermore, the student can carry out short calculations relating to the determination of environmental impacts or elementary energy balances.

The oral exam focuses on the topics covered in class and described in the exam notes of the teacher published online

The student is provided online with both a text and the slides presented in the classroom by the teacher during the lessons. This didactic material can be downloaded from the course website
