09125 - Paediatrics

Academic Year 2023/2024

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Single cycle degree programme (LMCU) in School of Dentistry (cod. 8204)

Learning outcomes

The course aims to make the student acquire an awareness of the profound diversity existing on a physiopathological level between the developing individual and the adult individual. At the end of the course the student achieves this objective in particular by deepening his knowledge of the maturational processes that characterize this period of life. In this context the student is able to understand which are the consequences of the most specific pathological processes of this period of life, of constitutional or acquired origin, on the odonto-stomatological apparatus;

Assessment methods

Oral examination During the oral exam, the candidate will be asked to prepare on the topics covered in class as per the program above. The end-of-course exam aims to evaluate the achievement of the educational objectives: - Know the basic principles of pediatrics in aspects relating to history, age of life, prevention and communication to the pediatric patient. - Know the objective examination of the child's mouth - Know the main genetic syndromes of odontostomatological interest - Know the clinical pictures of the main systemic diseases of odontostomatological interest with particular attention to celiac disease and reflux, pediatric hemorrhagic pathologies. - Approach and classification of mucositis in children The purpose of the oral test is to verify the student's ability to apply their theoretical knowledge and make the necessary logical-deductive connections. Grading of the final grade: Preparation on a very limited number of topics covered in the course and analytical skills that emerge only with the help of the teacher, expression in overall correct language → 18-19; Preparation on a limited number of topics covered in the course and ability to independently analyze only purely executive questions, expression in correct language → 20-24; Preparation on a large number of topics covered in the course, ability to make independent choices of critical analysis, mastery of specific terminology → 25-29; Substantially exhaustive preparation on the topics covered in the course, ability to make autonomous choices of critical analysis and connection, full mastery of the specific terminology and ability to argue and self-reflect → 30-30L.
