Course contents
The course explores the relationship between music, ritual, and gender in Morocco. Drawing on sources in history, anthropology, and ethnomusicology —in addition to analysis of audio and video recordings—the course offers an overview of the religious brotherhoods in Morocco, as well as female ritual and musical practices.
Even though attendance is not mandatory, it is strongly suggested.
