Learning outcomes

Students have to learn the general knowledge in aquaculture. A particular attention will be paid to the reproduction of the most important freshwater speices reared in Italy and Europe.

Course contents

Italian and european data.

Salmon and trout: broodstock management, reproduction,fish egg management, larval rearing, weaning and fattening.

Carp: broodstock management, reproduction, production of live feeds, fish egg management, larval rearing, weaning and fattening.

Anguilla anguilla aquaculture: larval rearing, weaning and fattening.

Oral presentation concerning the aquaculture of the most important freshwater fish species reared in the country.

Assessment methods

Oral examination (4 or 5 questions). Students have to take 35-to-40-min.
