Learning outcomes

The elective course, with 3 CFU, aims to provide the student of Medicine and Surgery with the fundamental notions that characterize the history, diffusion and implementation of Palliative Medicine in Oncology, both on a clinical and academic-cultural level.

  • Introductory elements and definition of Palliative Care
  • Implementation of Palliative Care programs around the world
  • The role of the University, introduction to the organization of the Palliative Care network in Italy
  • The Hospice movement and home care
  • Interculturality in the sensitive area of the end of life
  • Palliative sedation, diagnosis of intractable symptom, SICP document and indications for palliative sedation
  • The Law 38
  • Ethical and legal aspects in palliative care
