Learning outcomes

The main objective of the course is to transfer important general and practical principles of pediatrics. At the end of the course the attenders are expected to be aware of principal concepts in the field of pediatric diseases affecting language and neuro-cognitive development.

Course contents

Introduction on general principles of pediatrics: historical, scientific and social relevance

The scenario of the neonatal disease potentially affecting the language and neuro-cognitive development

- neonatal classification

- general concepts on physiology and pathology of newborn

- cerebral hemarrage

- respiratory pathology

- gastrointestinal pathology

- neonatal asphyxia

- neonatal jaundice

Main syndromic conditions and complex phenotypes predisposing to linguistic and neuro-cognitive disability

Main chronic diseases predisposing to linguistic and neuro-cognitive disability

Principles of pediatric oncology and neoplastic diseases that determine linguistic disabilities and neuro-cognitive development
