Learning outcomes
As part of the course, this module aims to provide a reminder of the embryo-fetal development in physiological conditions, with some nods to more frequently clinical problems. It is also proposed to provide an update on the latest research field of the potential use of extra-embryonic tissues as human stem cells sources.
Course contents
Topics Covered: introduction to general Embryology: fertilization, segmentation, implantation, development of the second week, third week and fourth of development, the embryonic period. Extra embryo-fetal tissue development: placenta, fetal membranes, yolk sac, allantois, umbilical cord. The extra-embryonic tissues as a source of human stem cells.
