Laurea Magistrale (Second cycle degree/Two year Master - 120 ECTS) in Mass media and politics

The 2nd cycle degree programme in Mass Media and Politics provides students with advanced and qualified competence and skills,other than analytical and methodological tools for an in-depth understanding of the relationship between media and politics in national and international contexts, the relations between political and social systems and mass communication systems, the specific features of the media market, political communication and public opinion changes.2nd cycle graduates have interdisciplinary knowledge and are able to work in technical and professional roles in public and private bodies, business and trade associations operating in the communication and information sector and in the media industry.In addition to Italian, graduates will be fluent in English (written and oral) and other languages, with a specific focus on political discourse analysis.For this purpose, this two-year programme has a multi-disciplinary curriculum aiming a tproviding specialized knowledge of the links between the political system and the information systems, focusing on their working, prospects and problems. Specifically the curriculum covers different learning areas(political science, political communication; sociology of cultural processes, media economics and information law; historical and political analysis),required to develop an understanding of socio-political and institutional phenomena related to communication in a comparative perspective and within an international perspective, with a focus on contemporary democracies.In order to meet and anticipate the job market demand, the programme also offers a specific learning area (Techniques for mass media communication) including highly specialized course units(Analysis of Political Language, held in English), a laboratory course (Audiovisual Production) and seminars (Journalism and Politics, Systems for Television Production, Qualitative Analysis of Communication) that provide students with technical and practical competence about mass media, digital media and their languages. Graduates will be able to find qualified jobs in the political,institutional and mass media communication sectors. The main professional figures include: specialists in political communication, digital communication and audiovisual communication working in political, social and institutional sectors; consultant for political parties, interest groups, governmental institutions, policy makers; electoral campaigns' organizers; political and social affairs and media policy reporter/consultants.
