Tuition fees and exemptions
The tuition fee required to enrol in a degree programme ranges from €157.04 to a maximum varies depending on the programme [.pdf 420 KB].
The tuition fee consists of:
- a fixed amount of €157.04, which must be paid even in the case of full exemption;
- a variable amount, calculated on the basis of the economic situation of your household (ISEE).
If, at the end of the open semester, you decide to enrol for the 2025-26 academic year at the University of Bologna, in order to be eligible for scholarships, tuition fee exemptions and other benefits, you must provide documentation certifying the economic situation of your household.
Make sure you check and prepare the necessary documents well in advance, as it may take several weeks to obtain them.
- If you have income in Italy: you must obtain your 2025 ISEE or ISPE. Apply through a CAF or INPS in good time, and in any case by the end of 2025.
- If you have income abroad: several documents will be required. Make sure you check what is needed in your case.
Documentation must be submitted from 9 February 2026 to 12 March 2026 by 6.00 p.m., by accessing the ER.GO website, in the Fai domanda (Apply) section. You must complete the “Personal data” and “Economic data” sections and enter the INPS protocol number of your ISEE 2025.
If you do not submit the documentation by 12 March 2026, or if you submit incomplete or incorrect data, you will be required to pay the maximum tuition fee amount [.pdf 420 KB].
If you have already submitted your ISEE 2025 via the ER.GO platform, no further action is required, as it will be acquired automatically.
Tuition fees for enrolment in the combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine will be calculated on the basis of the ISEE submitted within the deadlines indicated, in accordance with the system in force for the current academic year [.pdf 158 KB], net of the flat-rate contribution paid for the open semester. From 23 March 2026, you will be able to check the amount due by accessing the “Tuition fee status – enrolment” section of your Studenti Online profile. The amount must be paid in a single instalment by 28 May 2026.
Tuition fees must be paid via the PagoPA system. Please consult the payment guide [.pdf 423 KB].
Payment will be considered valid once it appears on your profile (this may take up to two days).
You are advised to regularly check your Studenti Online profile for amounts due and payment deadlines, as the University of Bologna does not send individual notifications.

Matriculation and enrolment (also in case of transfer from another Italian university)
Annex 3 to Ministerial Decree 1115 of 22/12/2025 sets out three national ranking list reviews and three matriculation or enrolment windows:
- from 28/01/2026 to 31/01/2026;
- from 09/02/2026 to 11/02/2026;
- from 16/02/2026 to 19/02/2026 (with automatic assignment to the campus with available places closest to the place where the student lives).
To matriculate or enrol if you are assigned, you must access Studenti Online and pay the first instalment, on pain of forfeiture of your place in the national ranking list.
If you are already enrolled in a degree programme at another Italian university and wish to transfer to a related degree programme in Bologna for which you are eligible for matriculation or enrolment based on the ranking list, once you have received your clearance, you must matriculate or enrol via Studenti Online, pay the first instalment, and declare that you are enrolled at another university and are requesting a transfer to the University of Bologna, specifying your previous university.
Matriculation on Studenti Online refers to the procedure for taking up an assigned place in the ranking list; this procedure must also be followed by those with additional learning requirements.
Matriculation in the second semester will be confirmed, and your student career will become active only if you have passed the catch-up exams.
Non-EU citizens residing abroad must have completed the procedures and meet all deadlines set out in the Supplement to the Procedures for international students regarding the methods of access to single-cycle degree programmes in Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine for the 2025/26 academic year [.pdf 205 KB] (in italian). Changing degree programmes
If you have already matriculated in a degree programme at the University of Bologna and wish to change to a related degree programme for which you are eligible for matriculation based on the ranking list, once assigned, you must request a change from your current degree programme via Studenti Online.
A degree programme change refers to the procedure for taking up an assigned place in the ranking list.
The change will be confirmed, and your student career will become active only if you have obtained all the university credits required for matriculation in the second semester.
This means you must have passed all open semester exams or any resit exams.

Fees and amounts
To enrol in the degree programme, you must pay tuition fees consisting of:
- a fixed part of €157.04
- a variable portion calculated based on your family's financial situation (ISEE), up to a maximum that varies according to the programme.
The first instalment relating to the fixed portion is always due and must be paid upon matriculation; it cannot be refunded following the cancellation of matriculation due to failure to meet the requirements.
The variable portion of the student fee will be calculated based on the ISEE submitted within the specified deadlines, according to the system currently in force for this academic year [.pdf 158 KB], net of any amount paid as a lump-sum fee for the open semester.
The 2025 ISEE for benefits for the right to higher education is strictly required.
If you have already submitted the 2025 ISEE on the ER.GO platform, the data will be automatically acquired; otherwise, you must log in with your SPID credentials to the Online Services section of the ER.GO portal from 09/02/2026 to 12/03/2026 to submit it.
The amount of the student fee will be calculated as a single instalment to be paid by 28/05/2026.
To view the amount due, please refer to the "Fee situation - enrolment" section on the Studenti Online profile, approximately after 23 March 2026.
Keep track of amounts and deadlines via your Studenti Online profile, as the University of Bologna does not send reminders.
Submitting your ISEE is very simple. Remember that you will be entitled to no subsidies if you fail to submit your ISEE certificate on time. All deadlines are final, no exceptions are allowed.
Please check for further information regarding fees and benefits in the 2025/26 notice of admission of your chosen programme.
