ISEE and other documentation for tuition fee exemptions

How to certify the economic situation of your family in order to be exempt from tuition fees and enrol in a First Cycle, Single Cycle or a Second Cycle Degree Programme.

Check and prepare the documents to be submitted in good time in order to apply for total or partial exemption; it may take several weeks to obtain them.

My family has income and/or assets only in Italy

To be eligible for full or partial exemption from tuition fees, you have to submit an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) certificate in relation to the right to higher education: the tool for assessing your family's economic situation.

You can only submit an ISEE certificate without indicating your family's income/assets if:

  • you have been living away from your family for at least two years (in accommodation not owned by a family member)
  • you have had an income of €9,000.00 or more per year for at least two years

To submit your ISEE

  1. Request an ISEE certificate free of charge from INPS (Italian National Pensions Institute), a CAF (Tax Assistance Centre), or your municipal offices; it may take several weeks to obtain it. To speed up the process you can also access the so-called "pre-filled ISEE" on the INPS online services.
  2. Make sure that the certificate contains no errors and/or omissions. If the Revenue Agency finds omissions, your certificate will be 'annotated'. In this case, we recommend that you to redo it before the end of the year and, if the omissions still persist, you will have to submit additional documents in the manner and within the deadlines that will be communicated to you at your university email address (name.surname@studio.unibo.it).
  3. Submit the certificate by 30 October 2024 at 18:00 via the online services of "ER.GO Fai domanda"you must fill in the "Personal data" and "Economic data" sections and enter the Single Self Declaration (DSU) registration number from INPS. You can also submit documents late, from 18:01 on 30 October to 18:00 on 15 November 2024, but you will have to pay a late fee of €100.
  4. On 29 and 30 October or on 14 and 15 November, if you still do not have the Single Self Declaration (DSU) registration number from INPS, you may enter the Sender's Registration Number, stated in the receipt issued at the time of the application for the ISEE certificate.

If you do not submit your ISEE by 15 November 2024, or you submit it with missing or incorrect data, you will have to pay the maximum fees. The maximum amounts for the academic year 2024/25 will be published shortly.
