Students will learn the techniques and resources necessary for writing concise, forward-looking political and economic risk analyses of emerging countries, aimed at corporate and institutional readers.

Contenuti

The course provides students with the tools, skills and practice to write concise, targeted reports on economic, financial and political risk in emerging countries and regions, including Central and Southeast Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus, the Middle East and Africa. Business and institutional leaders require rapid, succinct country-focused information in order to make decisions. Students will draw on key on-line sources to be able to write these timely, targeted and forward-looking reports.

This is a pass/fail course.

Readings will be provided on the Virtuale platform.

Metodi didattici

In-class, group research and compilation of reports following instruction and examples of past reports, with subsequent instructor feedback on submitted reports.

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento

Required attendance (70%) of class time and active participation in group research and compilation of reports is evaluated for a pass/fail grade.

Obligatory personal laptop required for in-class research.
