Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire
The students learn the main approaches and techniques to model complex mechatronic systems. The development of the Digital Twins of robots and automatic machines will be taught through the practical use of alternative software tools available at the computer lab. Different kinds of Digital Twins are developed according to the scope of their simulations, in particular dealing with Multibody systems dynamics, Virtual Commissioning, and real-time simulations of physical prototypes fed by measured data.
Contenuti
- Introduction to the basic concepts of: modelling, simulation and co-simulations of mechatronic systems; data-driven and model-based monitoring of machinery; Digital Twin.
- Kinematic, static, dynamic, and elastodynamic modelling/simulations of mechanisms and machines.
- CAE tools for machine design optimization.
- Development and use of Digital Twins for the management and monitoring of mechatronic systems in industrial applications.
Testi/Bibliografia
Slides will be uploaded on the Unibo platform Virtuale.
Metodi didattici
Lessons taught in lecture room and in informatic lab. Topics are mainly presented from a practical point of view: the basic use of at least two software tools will be taught to students in order to develop and simulate (simple) models of automatic machinery. Some lessons are conceived in the form of "interactive" sessions with software-house experts, in order to (1) present practical applications of advanced CAE tools in industry (case studies) and (2) to support students in learning the use of the simulation software.
In consideration of the type of activity and the teaching methods adopted, the attendance of this training activity requires the prior participation of all students in the training modules 1 and 2 on safety, in e-learning mode.
Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento
Delivery of assignments/projects, consisting of the development and simulations in the presented software of virtual models of (simple) sub-units of automatic machines/mechatronic systems.
Strumenti a supporto della didattica
Slides are used as a support for the lesson presentations. Pdf files are available at https://virtuale.unibo.it along with suggested readings, lesson notes and additional supplementary material (e.g. white papers, documentation and help notes for the use of the software tools...).
