Learning outcomes

At the end of the seminar (an activity strictly related to the objectives of the degree course) the student acquires specific skills and notions to deal with linguistic and/or philological and/or literary and/or historical and/or artistic themes and problems.

Course contents

Seminar on ancient myth and its modern and contemporary reception available for those students who have not attended or are not attending other Third Year seminars and who have included the activity "Seminario (1)" in their "piano di studi".

This seminar integrates a series of LESSONS ON MYTH (A) with the lecture series "CLASSICAL AND CONTEMPORARY AGAMENNON" (B). No reading of texts in the language is required, only translation. The seminar will feature several faculty members, lectures and conferences conducted live and recorded (see below).

Program

A) LESSONS ON MYTH
There will be two introductory lectures dedicated to the classical myth and its reception; two lectures each will be dedicated to the figures of Agamemnon, Oedipus, Icarus, Narcissus.

B) CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY AGAMEMNON
Series of lectures dedicated to the figure of Agamemnon and his fortune. It is available the recording of the meetings already realized (see below).

Teaching methods

The seminar foresees the participation of various teachers, coordinated by Prof. Dal Chiele: frontal lessons on different figures of the ancient myth integrate the series of conferences dedicated to Agamemnon.

Assessment methods

The final examination will consist of an oral interview for which an in-depth study of a choosen theme in addition to Agamemnon, is required. The reading of texts in language is not required, but only in translation. Both the skills acquired during the course and the ability of critical analysis will be tested.
