Learning outcomes

The course requires a sound background in EU Law and aims at offering an in-depth knowledge of the principles of the EU legal order, with particular regard to the functioning of the internal market and of the rights of EU citizens. The highly interactive nature of the course is intended to enhance the analytical skills of the students, as well as their legal reasoning and their oral and written presentation abilities.

Course contents

The European integration process; the structure, objectives and fundamental values of the European Union; the institutional framework, the sources of law, the European Court of Justice and the national judges, the EU principles, the impact on national legal orders; the EU citizenship, the basic freedoms and the internal market, the competition law and the State Aids, the Common Fisheries Policy, the EU transport policy.

Teaching methods

Lectures with the discussion of case law and practical cases about the subject.

Assessment methods

The assessment of students takes place through an oral examination designed to evaluate the knowledge acquired by the student during the course and the critical analysis developed by the studying of case law.

Teaching tools

Lectures will be supported by the presentation of slides throgh the use of the projector and the PC.
