Abstract
Despite being the most successful theory in physics, we know that the Standard Model of Particle Physics needs to be extended to account for the experimental evidences it cannot explain, such as the origin of neutrino masses of the existence of dark matter. Given our current lack of knowledge about the true underlying theory, together with the lack of new signals from experiments such as the LHC, the use of effective field theories (EFTs) are becoming increasingly popular. Nevertheless, these frameworks usually left out very relevant candidates of new physics, including precisely those who could explain neutrino masses or dark matter. Building on the framework studied and developed during the MSCA Postdoctoral fellowship, which extended the SM EFT with new sterile neutrinos, this proposal aims to explore further this kind of scenarios. The first part is dedicated to theory and experiment of neutrino extensions of the EFTs, aiming to build a new and more general EFT framework, and to design how to explore it experimentally. In the last part of the project, these models will be further extended to explore neutrino portals to other mysteries in particles physics, such as ALPs and dark matter particles. Additionally, the project also includes an intense Outreach and Dissemination program to maximize the impact of the results.
