FULLY TEXTILE SENSORS FOR WORKPLACE ACCIDENTS PREVENTION

Human-machine proximity sensor, designed to prevent collisions between workers and large machinery or moving vehicles. The invention consists of two devices, one on the machine, equipped with traditional electronics, and one on the operator, entirely textile, communicating in a manner

In today's context, to prevent human-machine collisions, operator transit zones are often physically separated from machine areas (physical compartmentalization). However, this approach is prone to human error and may not be applicable in all companies. Proximity sensor systems are being developed to reduce workplace incidents, but they require active wear by the operator and manual activation since they are not necessarily integrated into clothing and always active.

The invention is based on a completely textile or thin plastic human-machine proximity sensor for workplace safety, designed to prevent collisions between workers and large machinery/vehicles. An electronic emitting device is installed on the machine, while operators wear a fully textile device (sensor + battery) or a thin plastic device that detects the approach of the emitting device(s), even working in a completely passive mode (e.g., using RFID technology to reduce energy consumption). There will be two different proximity thresholds, 'low risk' and 'high risk': upon crossing the 'low-risk' threshold, the device on the operator will send a warning vibration to the user, along with the activation of a red light on the machine on a collision course with the worker; upon crossing the 'high-risk' threshold, the vibration level will increase, an audible signal will be added, and the device on the machine will stop its movement, preventing a machine-operator collision.

  • Wearable passive device, entirely textile or made of thin plastic, integrated into the operator's clothing for easy wearability, low cost, and weight.
  • Provides continuous work performance, avoiding potential human errors or forgetfulness.
  • Ensures a high level of operator safety through the second threshold (high risk) with automated machinery stop.
  • It has a minimal impact on company productivity, thanks to the first threshold (low risk) that does not interrupt ongoing work activities.
  • Features wireless communication technology between the two (or more) product components, reducing bulky cables and connections.
  • The devices with dual danger threshold proximity sensors are ideal for use in companies where human-machine proximity/interaction poses risks of collisions and impacts.
  • Work-Safety Proximity Network (WSPN) is a multi-sensor/device system with user protection for those near automatic machinery or large transportation vehicles.
  • The fully wearable sensor can also be used for children aged 0-4 years to prevent falls down stairs or interactions with dangerous household elements (blenders, stoves, fireplaces, etc.).
