The opening mechanism of the metawindow allows the activation of the metamaterial noise control system located in the window compartment, simultaneously allowing the natural air ventilation and the noise reduction. This system allows to have both a substantial air ventilation and a constant facade insulation on a broad frequency spectrum (50-5000Hz). The solution allows the allocation of metamaterial technology on the movable frame of the window, as a consequence the central panel can be used for visual connection, thermic insulation or lighting shading.
The possible applications of this technology concern all those products that require both constant ventilation and acoustic isolation, in the various fields of civil engineering, construction, mechanical, aerospace and architecture.
