Learning outcomes

Student is expected to understand nature, potential impacts and possibilities of development of new trends in the field of arts management related to new technologies. By its nature, the course would focus on specific trends and aspects that will be defined in flexible ways, open to possible experimentation.

Course contents

In his/her future career path, GIOCA students will encounter and take part in projects related to old and new media communication design. 

The goal of the course is to give the minimum glossary and technical grounding to give the student the tools and basic skillset to face the contemporary market. 

Today, social media content production, technologies for events and entertainment and the ability to communicate visually are fundamental skills of every cultural operator. 

Laboratory of new trends offers a beginner level training in communication design, storytelling, and audio-visual technology.

Even if GIOCA students are not supposed to become actual content creators, it is fundamental to have the minimum knowledge to create a proficient relationship with creative figures, such as Art Directors, Copywriters, Visual Designers.

The course aims to create an "aware customer-manager", able to understand and take active part the content creation process in the audio-visual and media projects of the contemporary cultural institution.

Teaching methods

The course is composed of frontal lectures about storytelling and media technology and hands-on workshops in visual design, video shooting and editing.

Assessment methods

The student will write and create a communication project composed of a video, textual material and visual/photographic contents for the social media environment.

The project could be related to a GIOCA case study. In that case, it could be bound to other subjects/laboratories, the internship or with the GIOCA final dissertation development.  

Teaching tools

Basic tools for the workshop will be given in class.

 

It is strongly recommended to prepare in your personal laptop basic tools for video editing and photo retouching (Adobe Premiere and Photoshop are preferred)
