Learning outcomes

Summarize the principles and applications of relevant cellular, molecular and genetic techniques.

Course contents

Lab activities will consist in:

- amplifying DNA: cell-based DNA cloning (using a specific software)

- mitosis and meiosis animations and tests

- gene structure analysis (using the main biological databases)

- learning the use of the main query commands of the online database Pubmed

- studying a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in a genomic sequence (using a specific software) and DNA extraction

- amplifying DNA: polymerase chain reaction (PCR)

- DNA sequencing (Sanger sequencing)

Theory followed by computer exercise. Minimum attendace requirement: 60% of lessons.
