Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

The general objective of the course is to know and understand the effects of climate change on the marine and coastal environment and how to manage and plan specific projects in marine and coastal areas to increase the resilience of those environments and related natural systems.

Contenuti

The course, after an introductory set of lectures about climate change in a general setting, analyses the land, urban, coastal and marine contexts and their transformations induced by anthropic activities. It investigates planning tools and evaluates the potentials of implementing a complex process of urban, coast, marine landscape and habitat transformation and/or reuse.

Moreover, it shows experiences of environmental planning and examples of good practices in coastal landscape and marine conservation, re-qualification and transformation in Italy and other countries.

The phases of planning and evaluation activities are described. The territorial, coastal and marine context and its transformations due to climate changes and anthropic activities are analyzed, the contents of the territorial, coastal and marine planning tools are illustrated, the implementation conditions of a process of transformation and / or complex recovery are assessed.

Metodi didattici

The course is divided into three phases:

1.General lectures about climate changes, land and marine planning and conservation of natural resources.

2 Identification of the potential and opportunities for transformation and construction of a general framework of strategic objectives: analysis of existing projects, programs and plans aimed at evaluating their impact on the future configuration of specific areas and on the system of relations.

3. The "reading" of the various contexts involved through inspections and surveys in the field, and an initial evaluation and definition of strategic objectives.
