Learning outcomes

The student is able to understand and produce a wide range of written complex texts and express him/herself with a degree of fluency and spontaneity.

Course contents

The following grammar material will be studied: use of the cases with and without prepositions determined by verbs; verbs with the cases they require; cardinal, ordinal, collective numerals: their declension and use; aspects of the verb; complex periods and different subordinating conjunctions: conjunctions of time, place, cause, purpose, result, concession, condition; relative pronoun and adjectival clauses; use of explanatory conjunctions что and чтобы.

Lettorato - Language Lab :

Attendance of the language lab is mandatory, and is counted as part of class attendance in general.
Lessons in the language lab will consist of reading and listening exercises; grammar exercises; vocabulary increase; oral production exercises (dialogue and monologue), as well as writing (summary). The topics discussed during the course will be connected with the state organization and administrative division of the Russian Federation, Russian culture and education, as well as everyday life in nowadays Russia. The language Lab is an integral part of the course, and the topics dealt with in the language lab will be used on the exam.

Teaching methods

The course will further the study of the Russian language by progressively acquiring additional elements of grammar, lexicon and phrase structure that allow the students to satisfy their main communicative needs in sociocultural, educational and professional areas. Attendance is mandatory: students should be present at 70 % of classes minimum. Students will practice on specific exercises, brief readings and translations. The "lettorato" component will aim at making students put into practice their knowledge of the language. Students must regularly accomplish their homework, which will be corrected subsequently by the teacher. Students will be asked to read autonomously short contemporary literary works.
