Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student has a preparation that allows to recognize the clinical signs of periodontal diseases, formulate a diagnosis and a prognostic judgment. He must also be able to perform the etiological therapy aimed at eliminating the causes of periodontium diseases. In particular, the student is able to: • learn about the normal anatomy of periodontal tissues; • know the etiological factors of diseases of the periodontium; • know the periodontal microbiology; • know the pathogenetic mechanisms of periodontal diseases; • recognize the clinical signs of periodontal diseases; • perform a differential diagnosis between diseases of the periodontium; • know the tools needed to perform non-surgical etiological therapy; • know the role of antibiotics and antiseptics in periodontal therapy; • perform non-surgical etiological therapy;
Course contents
The program consists of: anatomy of deep and superficial periodontal tissues, microbiology of periodontitis, pathogenesis of periodontitis, clinical and radiographic diagnosis of periodontal diseases, classification of periodontal diseases, objectives of supporting periodontal therapy, gingival recessison, peri-implant anatomy
