Learning outcomes
The student knows the fundamental theoretical principles relating to the translation of texts written for the Theatre: the student is also able to apply these principles to a practical activity of translation/adaptation of a play from the English language into a new Italian language and context.
Course contents
The aim of this workshop is to offer an intruduction to the fundamental concepts of Theatre Translation and then to tackle the translation of a play, following its process from the commission by the Company that conceived the project to its staging. The workshop activity will be carried out in form of collaborative translation.

Teaching methods
Individual and collaborative translation, workshop activity and classroom discussion, assignment of portions of the script, revision of the translation and adaptation of the play to the new Italian context, managing the requirements of the theatre company.
Assessment methods
The evaluation of the workshop activity will not be expressed in terms of marks but only with qualification. Students attending the module will be able to acquire skills in the field, through collaborative revision activities and teacher supervision, as well as through guidance from the company commissioning the performance.
