At the end of the seminar students: - have deepened the knowledge of relevant aspects of cinema, television and multimedia production studies; - autonomously apply innovative methodologies of analysis to audiovisual and media products.
Course contents

Italy and Japan, Parallel Stories of Two Countries: Literature, Art, Cinema, Music and Theatre
Taking inspiration from the recent volume Italian Culture in Japan: a History of Italian Studies in Japan (in Japanese, edited by G. Desantis and H. Doi, Kyoto, Shōrai, 2023), I will illustrate the reception of Italian culture in Japan through some examples, in various fields, including literature, art, cinema, music and theatre.
Placed in a different context, observed with a different eye, each Italian object shows new and essential aspects of itself: the Ego is recognized thanks to the Other. The path traced will lead to the recognition of a parallel relationship between the two countries, similar and at the same time contrasting.
