At the end of the workshop, students will have acquired practical skills concerning various work-occupational contexts.

Course contents

The job orientation workshop is an optional training activity offered to students enrolled in the 2nd and 3rd years. It provides for compulsory attendance to obtain the final qualification. For the academic year 2023-2024, the workshop will be organized in both semesters: Workshop-A (1st semester) and Workshop-B (2nd semester). Enrolment in Workshop-B, for a maximum number of 60 participants, will take place through the submission of study plans in February 2024.

The workshop aims to develop transversal skills related to work-occupational contexts. It is organized into three teaching modules: 1) job and placement skills; 2) career and selection; 3) communication. Specifically, the workshop will develop skills related to: working in a team and managing conflicts; searching for job and internship opportunities; building one's academic and working career; writing skills (professional reports, CVs, and motivational letters); managing the job interview; self-presentation and self-assessment techniques.

Readings/Bibliography

Readings for exercises and practical activities will be assigned in class and made available online.

Teaching methods

The workshop will take place in the presence. There will be three hours of lessons per week, compacted on Friday afternoons, from 3 to 6 p.m., for ten weeks. The transmission of content (frontal lecture) will alternate with practical activities and class exercises. Attendance is compulsory (70% of lessons).

Assessment methods

Students are expected to participate in class activities and carry out the tasks assigned by the teacher. In the last lesson, they will be asked to write a short paper relating to the skills they have acquired. This paper, combined with attendance and active participation, will enable the student to obtain the final qualification, which will be registered in June 2024.
