Learning outcomes

At the end of the training activity, the student is able to:

- create and manage data files;

- choose and manage the most popular applications (Internet browser, word processor, spreadsheet etc.) for research and documentation purposes.

Course contents

The course aims to introduce the student to the understanding of important issues related to computer science applied to psychology. The aim of the course is to provide the student with the preparatory computer knowledge to:

-computers and Internet data network, email;
-drafting of scientific documents and articles using Microsoft Word;
-data analysis with Microsoft Excel.

An important part of the course are the exercises in the computer lab that allow the student, with the help of the teacher, to experience the teaching activities presented during the course.

Course contents:

-Introduction to computers, hardware, operating system and file system, Internet and browsers, data storage and processing, email.
-Analysis and processing of data through the Ms Excel spreadsheet.
-Techniques of writing scientific articles with the use of Ms Word;

To follow the lessons in the laboratory, the activation of your university credentials is required: for information and assistance, please consult the staff of the Psychology IT Office.

Teaching methods

The course will use the resources of the computer lab of the Cesena Campus, via dell'Università 50, Room 4.2.

The lectures will take place in the presence of the teachers, in an interactive way, favoring the participation of the students.

The Computer Science course consists of 3 teaching modules: each module includes 10 hours of frontal teaching, for a total of 30 hours of lessons.

Assessment methods

The exam provides eligibility.

The exam consists of a test with multiple choice questions, synthetic answer or True/False, to be carried out in a set time. To be eligible, the candidate must achieve a passing score of 18 points out of 30.

Exams are held in person at the Cesena Campus.
