99628 - CONSTRUCTION OF URBAN AND METROPOLITAN ROADS

Academic Year 2023/2024

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Ravenna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Building Construction Engineering (cod. 5897)

Learning outcomes

The student of the Construction of Urban and Metropolitan Roads Course will address the topics of the infrastructure for urban and metropolitan mobility starting from the road and its constituent elements. Through the evolution of road infrastructures, the design of today's paved surfaces will be achieved, with particular reference to those designed for vulnerable users and the spaces intended for them. Aspects related to the type and project of road pavement in urban areas, to the traffic and climate actions, to the materials used, to the deterioration and maintenance strategies will be taught.

Course contents

The Course of Construction of Urban and Metropolitan Roads is focused on the transportation infrastructures in urban and metropolitan areas. Starting from the genesis of the road, the development of the road infrastructures in terms of design criteria, materials and technologies will be discussed. The following main topics will be addressed:

  • Integration of Road infrastructures in urban and metropolitan areas;
  • Design criteria and management of intersections and crossroads in urban area;
  • Design of road infrastructures for public transportations and parking areas;
  • Road infrastructures for vulnerable users;
  • Road paving project in urban areas and their maintenance;
