99194 - LABORATORIO DI STRUMENTAZIONE ELETTRONICA AUTOMATIZZATA M

Academic Year 2023/2024

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Electronic Engineering (cod. 0934)

Learning outcomes

Learn how to design, realize and debug a modern automatic measurement system based on benchtop instruments as well as acquisition cards with particular attention to consumer, industrial and scientific applications.

Course contents

Introduction

Aim of the course is to present the main phases leading to the realization of a measurement system employing the most advanced technologies. To this purpose each detail is considered; from the selection of sensors, to the correct processing and storage of signals. A relevant amount of time is dedicated to a basic course of LabVIEW and data acquisition using DAQ cards and benchtop instruments.

Program

Lectures

DAQ systems: DAQ cards, embedded system, VXI, PXI. Design of the measurement system. Selection criteria, performance analysis and discussion.

Signal conditioning: OPAMPs non idealities. DiffAmp and InAmp. charge amplifiers, I/V converters. Data sheets analysis and discussion. Selection criteria. Interface issues.

Cabling: grounding, shielding, noise reduction techniques.

Lab activity

LabVIEW: structure, programming and control of the measurement system. Signal acquisition and processing using LabVIEW libraries and toolkits. Design and realization of data acquisition systems based on DAQ cards and LabVIEW as well as benchtop instruments remotely controlled. Analysis of simple circuits using different approaches. Development of simple measurement systems.
