Course contents

Some basic notion of analysis are given, for instance, the definition of the number pi, the leading term for the evaluation of the factorial (Stirling formula), up to more advanced topics such as the role of the convexity in several problems in analysis, the convergence of the Fourier series, approximation problems. 

 

Finally, some elements of financial mathematics and decision theory will be given.

The theory is supported by a number of problems.

Assessment methods

Written and oral exam.

Both class tests and homework.
