Learning outcomes

The student acquires the technical-practical and methodological knowledge necessary to perform angiographic investigations with appropriate protocols based on the patient's clinical question, pathology, and type of equipment available. Recognizes image quality artifacts and criteria, multidisciplinary team, radiation protection and hygiene standards.

Course contents

Illustration of the main examinations that take place in Catheterization Laboratory, (e.g., Coronarography and Angioplasty), from a clinical, and most importantly, technical-practical point of view. Methodology of angiographic and complementary image acquisition (OCT, IVUS, FFR), for qualitative and quantitative assessment of stenosis.

Illustration of the pincipal examinations that take place in the Hybrid Room with Structural Cardiology (e.g., TAVI), from a clinical, and more importantly, technical-practical point of view.

Illustration of the pincipal examinations that take place in the Hybrid Room with Vascular Surgery (e.g., EVAR, FEVAR), from the clinical, and especially, technical-practical point of view. Angiographic image acquisition methodology, software management for processing and management of Fusion Imaging. Rotational and cone beam CT protocols.


Moving around the Cat Lab and Hybrid Room: sterility and radiation protection, collaborating with other professionals.

Contrast media: special reference to CO2, from a physical and especially practical technical point of view.
