Furthermore, students will be able to:

- make a connection between multiple variables to perform complex analysis of specific educational environments

- design a case study to deepen the knowledge of new or less studied educational fields and reflect autonomously upon them

- structure a project presentation and report on progress and results of an empirical research

- communicate clearly and correctly the results of an educational research using different communication channels and registers

- use proper tools to monitor his/her own learning process, reflect upon it and activate a process of revision in order to improve it

Course contents

The Course will address the main issues related to body and play education in early childhood, emphasizing the connections between the development of sensory and motor, cognitive, affective and social skills and the dimension of play.

The theme of play, treated both theoretically and methodologically, it will be developed within the perspective of educational continuity between nidi d'infanzia and pre-school and from an interdisciplinary perspective.

In this sense, Educational Continuity becomes the value and design frame of reference capable of outlining, in evolutionary terms, how play and playful approaches support the development of children's motor, cognitive, affective and social competencies in preschool educational contexts, starting with the nido d'Infanzia.

The teaching is divided into two modules, the first taught by Prof. Lucia Balduzzi and the second by Prof. Arianna Lazzari.

Interweaving the themes of body education and play, the teaching offers the following topics to students:

I MODULE

- Horizontal and vertical educational continuity: relations with families and pre-school.

- Realizing horizontal and vertical educational continuity through play and playful approaches from the 0-3 Guidelines (orientamenti o-3).

- The psychomotor approach to the nido d'infanzia: the centrality of the body and sensory dimension.

- Emmi Pikler's educational proposal.

- The main theoretical and methodological approaches to play in early childhood.

II MODULE.

- The observation of the child's play: the ISSA QUALITY FRAMEWORK 0-3.
- The role of the educator in facilitating the child's play.
- The organization of the material context (spaces and materials)

- Thinking and designing play between background and experience.

- Play in evolutionary perspective (from basket of treasures to symbolic and pretend play).

The course is conducted in presence or according to the University guidelines provided at the time of delivery.

Some supplementary and in-depth materials and others used during the course will be available to the student(s), accessible on the new platform at virtual.unibo.it. To use the platform, you must register using your University credentials.
